The land (or terroir) is where the emblem of each wine is cemented and Bodegas Balb\u00e1s can boast history and typicity, as it has 160 hectares of vineyards spread over different estates located around La Horra (known as the Golden Diamond of the Ribera). Most of them produce \u201cTinta del Pa\u00eds\u201d (Tempranillo) but also Albillo Mayor, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Each of these plots brings something different to each wine. Knowing what they have to offer and how they can be enhanced has been the key for our winemaker, Pedro de la Fuente, together with Fernando Izquierdo, the Head of Viticulture -both with more than 25 years of experience at Balb\u00e1s- to create over the years a range of signature wines with few references, but very carefully selected.<\/p>

At Balb\u00e1s we are winegrowers and we have been able to work the land despite its conditions and the harsh Castilian climate that plagues us, to skilfully manage to make the vineyard prosper in difficult areas, mostly located in very poor soils (stony, sandy or clayey).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

If each estate has its own characteristics, each Bodegas Balb\u00e1s vine has its own personality. Many of them have been recovered from old family vineyards and from our own varieties, which allows us to continue to give our wines that unique character linked to the terroir.<\/p>

We strive to preserve the natural balance of the soil, encouraging microbial life and preventing soil erosion.<\/p>

We ensure that the vines receive the right amount of water and nutrients to produce a quality harvest.
