Before we are a winery, we are a landscape.\u00a0<\/p>

A landscape our family has been walking since 1777, learning to read the rhythm of the seasons and the character of each plot.<\/p>

Today that legacy translates into 140 hectares of our own vineyards around La Horra, the heart of the Ribera del Duero. A heritage that allows us to care for each vine from the very beginning and craft wines that faithfully reflect the place they come from.<\/p>

Tinta del Pa\u00eds (Tempranillo) predominates, accompanied by small plantings of Albillo Mayor, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown with the same respect for the land that has guided our family for seven generations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Each of our plots contributes something different to every wine. Knowing what they can offer and how to bring it out has been the key that has allowed our winemaker, Pedro de la Fuente, together with Fernando Izquierdo, our Head of Viticulture, to create over the years a range of signature wines with few references, but each one carefully crafted.<\/p>

At Balb\u00e1s we are winegrowers and we have been able to work the land despite its conditions and the harsh Castilian climate that plagues us, to skilfully manage to make the vineyard prosper in difficult areas, mostly located in very poor soils (stony, sandy or clayey).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

Many of our vines come from old family vineyards preserved for generations, keeping alive a heritage closely tied to our land.\u00a0<\/p>

Seeking the vineyard's natural balance is key to making this possible, caring for the health and life of the soil and adapting each task to the needs of the plant and the rhythms of nature.\u00a0<\/p>
